About
Misthometro is a net-pay calculator for Greece, for anyone working here or weighing up a move. Every figure used in the calculation traces to a named primary source.

What Misthometro does
Misthometro is a free net-pay calculator for Greece, for anyone working here or weighing up a move. It starts from the monthly gross salary and shows what actually reaches your account: it deducts the employee’s EFKA contributions and the FMY tax, and breaks out the net pay, the contributions, the tax withholding, the employer cost and the effective deduction rate. The goal is not just a number, but to make it transparent how that number comes about.
The 2026 methodology
The calculation follows the 2026 model as shaped by Law 5246/2025. The employee’s contributions (13,37%) are deducted up to the maximum insurable-earnings ceiling (7.761,94 € a month) and set the taxable base. The progressive scale (9% to 44%) is then applied, lowered per child and per age band, and the tax reduction (from 777,00 € with no children) is subtracted, which creates the tax-free threshold. Because pay is spread over 14 periods, the withholding is annualized and divided back by 14.
Sources
The rates and amounts come from the official authorities: AADE for income tax, e-EFKA for contributions, and the Government Gazette (FEK) for the laws and ministerial decisions (among them Law 5246/2025 and the minimum-wage decision). Where a primary source was not directly accessible, the values were cross-checked against several authoritative secondary sources and verified arithmetically.
Our stance on accuracy
We are honest about the stage we are at. Every value comes from a named primary source and is cross-corroborated, but not yet signed off by the reviewer of record. A model never decides on its own that a rate is correct; every figure is checked against its primary source. Some points — such as the per-fund EFKA split, or the scale cells for 3 and 5+ children — remain explicitly open and are flagged as such. Misthometro is informational and is not tax, accounting or legal advice.
The values come from named primary sources, but they have not been through this site’s own review and sign-off — do not use them for a real, accounting or tax decision. For an official amount, go to the cited source or the responsible authority.
